Counting Coup Rick Godley October 2010

Last month, I wrote on the need for individuals, especially married couples, to methodically and painstakingly take down the strongholds of their souls. The soul is your mind, your will, and your emotions. Not only have we inherited lies from our forefathers, but we have inherited corruption in many ways through many means. The fact that one is ‘born again’ is great, but that takes place in one’s spirit. That’s where one is born again of the incorruptible seed. The human spirit is only 1/3rd of our human being. We then have our soul, (M-W-E) and then our flesh and blood.
Our Father wants us to be truly Sprit-led and worked out through our souls into the Word made flesh. When Jesus said that Satan had nothing in Him, Jesus knew what He was talking about. We, however, have “stuff” in us that the enemy can trigger in many ways, mostly subtly to trip us in our Walk of Faith.
How many of us can identify with fear, rejection, rebellion, sexual impurity , bitterness, and jealousy to name only a few root causes of an issue that has gone unresolved in your soul? The enemy of our souls is not going to leave willingly just because one is either a “Christian” or obedient Torah believer. Ananias and Saphria had some strongholds that they didn’t fully confess and walk in the Light on as He is in the light, and it cost them.
The children of Israel were delivered out of one level of bondage from the enemy and had to come to the living Creator. But He wants to go deeper. He wants His children to know what’s in their heart. He wants to know whether or not we would keep His Words. Yield unto obedience or allow the stronghold of rebellion to manifest. A lot of them didn’t come clean before their Creator, and it cost them.
Moses, in his farewell state of the future address about the children of Yah states that imaginations will cause us to be corrupted, leading to rebellion, pride, religion and other perverted maladies of the soul. We need to clean the inside of our cup. Clean the house inside! It’s no wonder Jesus, on His part, did not trust Himself to them. For He knew all men, and He Himself knew what was in man.
What’s killing our troops overseas these days? Mines and IED’s that were buried under the roads long ago are killing our troops. The enemy is watching for the most opportune time to set it off in order to do the most destruction to his enemy.
The enemy of our soul is out to do the same. If we haven’t apprehended the strongman and bound him and turned him over to the Lord who executes justice, then you are allowing the enemy to still linger and destroy relationships and destroy one’s witness.
The American Indian has a term called “Counting Coup”. That’s when the warriors won prestige with acts of bravery in the face of the enemy. They would ride into the enemy’s camp and steal their weapons or horses and escape unharmed. If they did this, they were awarded an eagle feather.
Our souls are just like this. We need to ride in and take back the ground we yielded to the enemy by our actions, words, thoughts, beliefs and, most importantly, in our minds, wills, and emotions. It’s like having an intruder sit in your living room or bedroom that refuses to leave because you have allowed him to come in and stay.
We are approaching a time when power from our Father is going to be poured out to vessels that are able to receive it because His mission is still that none should perish. And we are to storm the gates of hell to set another captive free.
Please, if you need more information and encouragement on how to do this e mail me. There are some excellent organizations that can help you identify what needs to be healed and restored in your soul.
Didn’t Jesus count coup when he went to the enemy and got back the keys of life and death? Didn’t David count coup on Saul when he cut his garment and didn’t kill him when he had the chance?
I hope you can see what a coup stick looks like. It’s almost like a walking stick, maybe even a shepherd’s staff. Coincidence? You make that call. Remember, what fellowship has Yahuah with beli-al? None. So why would we leave crime scene evidence in our house (soul) and invite the Pure One to come in? That would and could be a deadly mix. Just ask Ananias and Saphria and Ai and Gehezi and Judas and ….

March 2010 By Rick Godley

Recently I was made aware of the full poem ‘The Battle Hymn of the Republic’ written February 1 1862 by Julia Ward Howe. I’m going to pen it in full for you below. After you read it, I’d be curious to see your thoughts on what book do you think influenced her to write such and epic. Compare her words with the modern praise and worship songs.

‘Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord:
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He has loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:
His Truth is marching on.

I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel;
As ye deal with my contemnors, so with you my grace shall deal’;
Let the hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heal,
Since God is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat:
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! Be Jubilant, my feet!
Our God is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea;
With a glory in him bosom that transfigures you and me:
As he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,
While God is marching on.”

Julia Ward Howe was paid five dollars by the Atlantic Monthly Magazine for this inspirational classic.

Do you feel like this song has even more relevance for our generation? Weep now softly as the tears will be well spent.

‘Who Dat say de’ gonna march in where? Who Dat?’ Rick Godley Feb 2010

With the recent focus on the New Orleans Saints football frenzy and ‘Who Dat Nation’, I began to reflect about their theme song, ‘When the Saints Go Marching In’. My mind began to do some ‘Holy Who Dat’s’. As if The One who Created everything was talking to me. He first did that in Genesis 3, when He asked Adam, ‘Where y’at’ (v.9), and ‘Who Dat told you were naked” Who dat?’ (v. 11).

So in the Spirit of Truth, understanding that football is just football purely entertainment and nothing eternal, I began to seek Truth in a ‘Who Dat?’ way. If we don’t stop and think about what we think about, we’ll have a tendency to think things are true when they may not be. For example we don’t know for sure that it was 3 Kings that came to see the Messiah. They surely didn’t get there when He was wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. Right? If I’m wrong, ‘who dat’ told you otherwise?

Where in Scripture do the Saints go? And do they go marching? If so; when do they do that? What qualifies one to actually be a Saint, according to The Scripture? Open questions that I’d like to hear your responses when you get a chance. I’ll do a couple of verses for you myself. Bible verses, not song verses.

Psalm 24, ‘Who Dat, who goes up to the mountain of The Lord? And Who Dat, det gets to stand in His Holy place?

Psalm 94, ‘Who Dat, who will rise up for me against evil doers? Who dat, who will stand up for Me against workers of wickedness?

Let’s look at some Saints verses that Joel Osteen probably never tells the masses in Houston.

Psalm 79 ‘The dead bodies of your servants have the been given to be meat to the fowls of the air, and the flesh of your saints to the beasts of the earth.’

Psalm 116, ‘Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.’

Dan. 7:21, ‘I beheld and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them. Later on in the same chapter, ‘and he shall speak great words against the most High and shall wear out the saints of the most High.’

Rev. 13, ‘and it was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them.’

Rev. 16, ‘for they have shed the blood of saints and prophets’

Now where do ‘dese saints enter as we see now ‘dey don’t really march in. Isaiah 26, ‘Open you the gates, that the righteous nation (not USA) which keep the Truth may enter in.

Other verses on ‘entering in’, Not everyone that says to me Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; be he that DOES the will of my Father which is in heaven. Notice you gotta do something, not just believe. ‘But if you want to enter into LIFE, KEEP the commandments!’ And we gotta strive to enter in at the straight gate. Strive means to struggle, agonize, and wrestle. This ain’t no King Cake Walk. Cause it’s easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, that for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God.

How did our example get in? ‘Ought not The Messiah to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? What’s our game plan? Acts 14:22 ‘continue in the faith, because we must go through much tribulation to enter into the Kingdom of God’. (That should derail the pre-tribulation express).

And finally; ‘Blessed are they that DO His commandments that they may have right to the tree of Life and may enter in through the gates into the city’.

So Who dat you think? E mail me your thoughts, Rick@godleyworks.com

So test yourselves to see Dat’ You are in the Faith! Go on and examine yourselves, now! Or don’t you know ‘dis about yourself, dat’ da Messiah is in you? Cause if you don’t then it’ll be you dat fail dat test! (2 Cor 13:5)

Jesus will ask us one day since we will ALL appear before him to give an account and He will say this: ‘You said I said….WHAT?’
